Queso Competing

The journey of Queso, a remarkable reining horse, is a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of FormaHoof. This is the story of how a horse, facing significant challenges, found a new lease on life and went on to achieve remarkable success in the competitive arena.

The Early Days of Struggle

Queso’s story began with high hopes and unforeseen hardships. Purchased in 2022, Queso’s new owners believed he would thrive with some shoeing adjustments, despite some changes in his left front hoof noted by the veterinarian. However, it soon became apparent that they had been misled about the true extent of his health issues. Queso had been nerved prior to the purchase, but his left front hoof was in worse condition than initially thought.

Despite an optimistic prognosis, Queso’s journey was fraught with challenges. In June 2022, he began showing signs of laminitis, a painful and potentially devastating condition affecting the hooves of horses. Thankfully, he did not suffer rotation, but the pain and discomfort rendered him unrideable for nearly a year.

Back in Action: The Road to Competitions

Despite the challenges, Queso’s spirit and determination shone through. After becoming rideable again in May 2023, he was able to return to the competitive arena, albeit with limitations. His first major event post-recovery was The Run for A Million in 2023. Competing in the rookie event after more than a year off from showing, Queso demonstrated his remarkable resilience and love for his job by finishing third.

However, Queso’s journey was far from smooth. While he was rideable, he could only handle minimal work due to frequent soreness. This required careful management and consistent care to ensure his well-being. Despite these challenges, Queso’s passion for competing remained undiminished, and his owner was determined to find a solution that would allow him to perform at his best without pain.

A Ray of Hope with FormaHoof

The turning point in Queso’s journey came with the discovery of FormaHoof. After months of trying various solutions like wedges, rocker rails, and clog shoes, all to no avail, Queso’s farrier, Dalton Curley, and his owner began searching for alternative treatments. That’s when they stumbled upon FormaHoof online.

FormaHoof, a revolutionary product designed to support and rehabilitate hooves, seemed like a perfect fit for Queso’s needs. Excited by the potential, they ordered the mould and reached out to Joel Brown for guidance on the FormaHoof application process. With his advice, Dalton successfully applied the FormaHoof Advanced Polymer.

The results were nothing short of miraculous. Queso was immediately sound, able to walk without pain, and ready to resume consistent work. This innovative solution had given Queso a new left front hoof, changing his life and career trajectory.

Triumph with FormaHoof in 2024

In 2024, the true impact of FormaHoof on Queso’s performance became evident. With the ability consistently train and support from his farrier, Dalton Curley, Queso was able to compete more effectively. His resilience and the innovative hoof care solution FormaHoof provides, culminated in an outstanding performance.

Queso and Trinity, his dedicated young rider, exhibited at a prestigious event in Waco. They secured a reserve championship in level 3 and 4, tied for the win in level 1 and 2, and emerged champions in the limited division, earning more than $14,000. This remarkable achievement was a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and the game-changing impact of FormaHoof.

The Run for a Million: A Dream Realized

As the big event approached, the excitement and hope of Queso’s owner and Trinity reached new heights. The dream of competing at The Run For A Million on August 8th, 2024, was becoming a reality. This event was not just a competition but a platform to showcase Queso’s incredible journey from hardship to triumph.

With his improved condition and soundness, Queso was ready to take on the challenge. Their performance at The Run For A Million would be a culmination of years of hard work, innovative hoof care, and the unyielding spirit of a horse that refused to give up.

A Legacy of Love and Resilience

Queso’s success is a story of more than just a horse overcoming physical challenges. It’s about the love and dedication of his owners, the expertise of his farrier, Dalton Curley, and the innovative solution provided by FormaHoof. This journey is also a tribute to Lena Spark, Queso’s sire, and Robbie Schroeder, a dear friend and an exceptional horseman whose legacy lives on through Queso’s achievements.

This journey underscores the importance of innovative solutions in equine care and the profound impact they can have on a horse’s life. FormaHoof has not only given Queso a new hoof but also a new lease on life, allowing him to do what he loves most – compete and win.
