Total Hoofcare Ltd. - FCA Stephen Hewitt

Total Hoofcare is operated by Stephen Hewitt, a Master Farrier based in York, North Yorkshire, at Thick Penny Forge where he has a purpose built forge and also provides demonstrations and events of the farrier trade. His mobile services are based around York, but travels further on request. He has worked with FormaHoof since early 2020 and gained plenty of experience. Stephen is qualified as a Farrier since 1986 and successfully trained 16 Apprentice Farriers since. As a former competition rider, he understands the need of good shoeing and the frustrations riders often face. Currently undertaking the Royal Veterinary Colleges Equine Diploma in Equine Locomotor Research – Stephen’s basing his data and research on the use of pads and their effectiveness. He specialises in the shoeing and hoof care for thoroughbreds and racehorses although works with all other types of equines. Stephen has completed the FormaHoof Certified Applicator Course where hoof care professionals are assessed to ensure their FormaHoof applications are consistent and meet FormaHoof standards.
